I hope everyone had a successful first nine weeks. One of my missions as Rolfe's PTA president is to enrich student's lives one day at a time. So, they can become leaders. Leaders who will inspire, dream, think, create and produce while recognizing the integrative importance and value of knowledge, the world, community, family and self. However, this mission will fail without parents involvement and support. Our goal has not changed. We still want, no need, 100% membership participation.
I believe children need to see their parents involvement in all aspects of their educational growth (K-12). As well as their extracurricular activities. I believe the middle and high school years are critical for parents involvement. It is during these years, they are faced with challenges such as, peer pressure, bullying, stress, depression, cyber addiction, self-esteem and body image issues. "Teenagers know they still need their parents even if they can't admit it".
Furthermore, I believe regardless of a child's successful and/or difficult period; a parents presence and support is necessary.
